In 1975 motorway concessionaire companies became aware of the importance of conducting non-destructive testing of pavements in order to discover their real state. At the same time as this need arose to take preventive measurements for guaranteeing proper maintenance and management of roads in Spain, the Infrastructures Management Department of GEOCISA was created.
The Lacroix Deflectograph was the first vehicle of non-destructive testing equipment used in Spanish roads, and the pioneers in ordering it were the companies AUMAR and IBERPISTAS.
The ancient Public Works Ministery was the next to incorporate non-destructive testing in his network road, and since then, they does it annually. All the others Public Road Administrations have followed them.
The Lacroix Deflectographs was followed by GERPHO, SCRIM, ARS and Dynaflect to fit the demanding of non-destructive testing in roads, mainly from 1982. This was the year when began the quick increasing of this type of works.
In 1984, and thanks to the Road General Direction of the ancient Public Works
Ministery promotion, a Road Inventory Vehicle was developed by GEOCISA.
This vehicle was quickly used by the R.G.D. itself and by a big percentage of
the others Spanish Road Administration, Portuguese J.A.E, Argentina V.N.D.,
Andorra Government and others.
The enormous volume of data picked up by the Road Inventory Vehicle and the others non-destructive Testing Vehicles, have made necessary to develop, a Road Data Base by GEOCISA, whose name was GESICA.
To help the management of the Road Networks a Pavement Management System software GEFIREX, was developed. A Geographic Information System was connected to this software and collaterals software for roads, accidents, signals and horizontal marks management, etc, were developed.
Nowadays GEOCISA is fully equipped in Vehicles and Software, so we can compete without problems at a technical word level.
